Apricot Star Dahlia Tuber
I love weirdos. I can't help myself. The world will be saved by weirdos in love.
I love texture and heartbreaking colors and beings that cause marveling. Apricot star is all of those things. Plus having good stems for cutting and a startlingly good vase life. I thought these fine, cactus-flowered petals would be fragile and show creasing, but they don't, they can take some handling, and still look good almost two weeks on.
The color varies from pink to yellowy apricot, and every presentation is lovely. If harvested young, they look more spikey and offer some good texture. If harvested a bit later, they kind of fill out and have a fuller, delightfully shaggy look to them.
At over six inches wide, the flowers definitely make an impression and hold their own place in an arrangement.
All at the same time this guy is romantic and playful, weird, and utterly themselves. We should be friends.
