Emory Paul Dahlia Tuber
Emory Paul is enormous. Truly the most giant bloom I've ever seen at 12 inches across or more, everything about this flower is impressive, the size of the blooms, the length and strength of the stems, even the size of the buds stops you in your tracks!
Flowers are a bright purpley pink with subtle striations on the petals that give even more depth and dimension, and plants are big and strong, too! Though I would definitely support them through the growing season, they didn't seem floppy to me the way some dahlias can be, especially the bigger ones.
While surely they're not the most productive dahlia I've ever seen and they bloom a little later than other varieties, as you'd expect from a giant, the blooms sold well at farmers markets for us as single-stemmed novelties, and they're so fun as a garden plant to delight the senses, the kids, and the neighborhood.
This dahlia brings joy, ooos and ahhhs, and gasps! so fun!
