Café au Lait Suprême Dahlia Tuber
Another new introduction to the Café au Lait family.
I thought this was going to be a white with the Café form when I ordered it, but it definitely has a little of the beige tones that some standard Cafés throw. And when I first saw that, I thought that I would hate it, honestly, because most of my floral customers are constantly in search of a white without the slightest hint of yellow in the eye, but I don't hate this one. In fact, I think it's really nice, maybe because it's not really a yellow. Some are totally white, mind you, but even on those there's this beige-y warm cast to the shadows that's just really nice.
The ones with more color concentrate it toward the eye, but it's a lovely light coffee-and-cream tone that washes out to the outer petals, too. There's just a good antique vibe to the color. Like old lace. I'm sure it'll be a hit in the wedding flower market.
Like most large-flowered dahlias, best with support.
The last photo is a Suprême with a standard Café.
